Food Insecurity in School Children in Tanzania

In conjunction with the International Fellowship of Rotary Doctors, RCEC is funding a sustainable food security program for school children (121 elementary schools, 22 middle and high schools) on Ukerewe Island in Lake Victoria, Tanzania. This programs provides sustainable food production by repurposing unused land into mini-farms to provide breakfast to school students and to earn a small income for the school. Prior to this project, these children often experienced food insecurity that impacted their school activities. This is an on-going project that has made lasting changes that benefit these children. The Rotary Club of Peachtree City joined us in this project providing additional financial support.
